Trust Issues
Sometimes we actually find the key to what we are looking for outside where we need to find it. In some stories there may be a series of clues left to lead to the ultimate prize. One such book made into a movie was called The Ultimate Gift. There were a series of gifts that each just seemed like dead end work. But each was meant to prepare the one designated to receive the ultimate gift to be ready to receive it.
For myself today reading Psalm 118 there were many familiar verses, I could even see patterns of groups of verses that stood out. When I was praying before reading through my head were thoughts of I truly need this to apply to my life today, but others need it to apply to their lives in some way also. So in reading I'm thinking, I know there is a consistency of thought for this psalm, but I'm not seeing what I need to see today. Then I went on to read in Proverbs, and this stood out
The Lord hath made both these, even the ear to hear, and the eye to see.
Proverbs 20:12 GNV
This stood out and I remembered reading in Psalms a related set of thought.
Their idols are silver and gold, even the work of mens hands. They haue a mouth and speak not: they have eyes and see not. They have ears and hear not: they have noses and smell not. They have hands and touch not: they have feet and walk not: neither make they a sound with their throat. They that make them are like unto them: so are all that trust in them.
Psalms 115:4-8 GNV
This reminded me of something God gave me now a few years ago that are distinguishing factors between man made religion and the true God. So when I came back to Psalm 118 this stood out:
It is better to trust in the Lord, then to have confidence in man.
Psalms 118:8 GNV
